SHATTUCK AVENUE RESIDENCE

The remodel of this historic Berkeley brown shingle house involved developing a strategy to bring light into an enclosed, dark, second story hallway and redesigning three bathrooms.  The bathrooms were conceptualized as modern interpretations of a 21st century craftsman interior.  The material palette includes natural woods, plaster, stone and concrete which marry the craftsman esthetic of drawing upon the beauty found in nature with the modernist ideals of honesty and truth in materials.
